| Responsible for leading the In-Cylinder Development and Fuel Systems Validation Team within Global Engine Development. The Candidate handles the personnel responsibilities (employee performance reviews, career planning, coaching and mentoring) for each team along with the strategic planning around process improvements and staffing. Incumbent will manager between 15 and 20 direct and several agency workers
To provide supervision and technical direction to a staff of technical specialist and support personnel engaged in product or product/process design, development or research activities, which accomplish product maintenance and new product introduction objectives.
Primary accountabilities of this position include product design, product and process design, development or research of products, components or systems. In addition, the incumbent may support other significant activities such as Product Reliability or Product Support. This position is a key participant in process implementation and improvement, developing technical product or process plans which reflect the customers' application requirement and for identifying and acquiring resources needed to execute the plans.
The incumbent will guide the work group in developing collaborative relationships among themselves, with customers, suppliers, other cross functional groups and internal customers to insure goals are achieved. Key responsibilities include creating and maintaining an organizational climate/culture which encourages innovation, collaboration, excitement/commitment and a sense of urgency toward business success; involving and integrating key stakeholders to insure project success; communicating business strategy, goals, and direction; and continuous development of individuals and the organization.
To make decisions, this position will work with immediate work group or project team, division/business unit, suppliers, internal and external customers, and the product market. Decisions may impact an entire product, process or factory and may affect warranties, sales, customer perception and, through technology and core competency, could have effect of evolutionary change to technology and its application to products or processes.
Though organizations will vary, incumbent will interact with people from diverse technical and cultural backgrounds. Project scope will vary from a moderate technical focus to a broader, multi-systems focus, and will require incumbent to broaden business understanding. Challenges include increased competitive pressure, increasing project complexity and customer demands. Position requires highly developed people skills for coaching and leading people. This role requires that the incumbent increases understanding of product technology and process and the customers' business and needs.
BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE: Skills in product design, product and process design, development or research of products, components or systems, and customer relations are needed. Excellent human relations and communications skills are necessary. Incumbent requires a breadth of knowledge and experience including products, processes, design, procedures and policies. This role requires a focus on product, process, and employee development
